Tydeman's late orange Apple
Tydeman's Late Orange is a superb English heritage variety, developed in the early 20th century by H. M. Tydeman at the East Malling Research Station. This medium to large apple boasts a yellow-green base with a deep red flush and a hint of russet, offering a visually appealing appearance. Known for its sweet, rich, and aromatic flavour, Tydeman's Late Orange is similar to Cox’s Orange Pippin, but with a slightly sharper and more intense taste that mellows beautifully after storage. Typically harvested in October to early November, the apples store exceptionally well, retaining their flavour and texture into spring. As a self-sterile variety in Pollination Group 4, Tydeman's Late Orange requires a compatible pollinator from groups 3, 4, or 5. With a mature height of 3–5 meters and a spread of 3–4 meters, depending on rootstock, this variety is a fantastic choice for those seeking a high-quality, flavourful apple for fresh eating and extended storage.
