Eden Apple
The Eden apple is a dual-purpose variety developed in Canada during the 1970s and introduced around 2006. Renowned for its non-browning flesh, Eden is ideal for fresh consumption, salads, and culinary uses. The medium-sized apples feature a maroon-coloured skin and bright white flesh that remains clear when cut. They are crisp and sweet, suitable for fresh eating, cooking, and juicing. Typically ready for harvest in early October, Eden apples are versatile and appealing. The tree exhibits average disease resistance and is suitable for various growing conditions. As a self-sterile variety in Pollination Group 3, Eden requires a compatible pollination partner from Groups 2, 3, or 4 to produce fruit. With a mature height of 2–4 meters and a spread of 2–3 meters, depending on the chosen rootstock, Eden is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking a flavourful and versatile apple variety.
