The Broad Leaf Java Fern ( Microsorum pteropus ) is a popular aquarium plant native to Southeast Asia. Its broad, leathery leaves can grow up to 30 cm (12 inches) in length. This fern thrives in low to moderate lighting and doesn't require additional CO2, although it can benefit from it.

Considered an easy plant, the Broad Leaf Java Fern can be placed in the midground or attached to hardscape like driftwood or rocks. It's crucial not to bury the rhizome (horizontal stem) in the substrate, as it will rot. The plant is adaptable to a wide range of water conditions, with an ideal pH between 6-7.5 and a temperature range of 20-30°C (68-86°F). Occasional nutrient supplementation can enhance its growth.

Plants are incubated in a solution of 0.01% of the insecticide Buprafezin for one hour (Please do not just drop these in a shrimp tank or with any other crustacean. To use these within a tank please wash in water with baking soda under light.
